The reserve

The reserve

We are located in Calghera, a small fraction of the municipality of Colli Verdi, in the province of Pavia.

The Reserve extends over 410 hectares and is characterized by hilly terrain close to the Piacentini Apennines (more precisely we are in the Oltrepò Pavese), which is suited for cereal crops, forage production and the presence of wooded areas, an ecosystem that favors the presence of game that can be hunted and not.

At the reserve it is possible to have encounters with various wild animals such as fallow deer, roe deer, deer and wild boar as regards the ungulates, while it is also possible to observe pheasants, partridges, red partridges, woodcocks and hares distributed throughout the territory affected by the reserve.

At the Reserve it is possible to practice different types of hunting

History of the Logo

The logo of the reserve depicts San Giorgio killing the dragon and the initials of Riserva Calghera (RC).

In the Middle Ages, St. George's fight against the dragon embodied the ideals of chivalry, as a symbol of the eternal struggle between good and evil. The saint, which is celebrated on World Book Day, represents wisdom and knowledge.

In the Ambrosian land and, more particularly in the country from which we come, in the church of the Collegiata in Castiglione Olona, it is possible to observe a particular wrought iron candelabra dating back to the thirteenth century which depicts the killing of the dragon, or the triumph of good over evil.

A little for what it represents, a little for a reference to our origins, we wanted to choose San Giorgio and the dragon as the logo of our reserve.

Who we are

The history of Riserva Calghera is a history of nature, family and values.

We are Mauro and Umberto, father and son, passionate hunters guided by strong ethical and moral principles who will accompany you in the unique experience that is our beautiful reserve.

For us, hunting is a necessity as well as a privilege. This activity is able to always give new and strong emotions, my children and I are lucky enough to be able to share them every day, binding us in an indissoluble relationship.

Guided by the love for the land that surrounds us and driven by the desire to make hunting known in its most noble and contemplative aspect, we promote the idea of a responsible hunter, respectful of the fauna with which he comes into contact, and we condemn the most widespread of those who abuse their license.

Every year we are reborn in a new guise, mindful of our experiences and projected towards a new adventure.

I have the privilege of being a hunter, for me hunting is not only a privilege but also a necessity.
Hunting is a new experience every day, being able to share it with those you love is special and associates emotions with emotion.

We hunters every year are reborn in another guise mindful of our experiences and projected towards a new adventure.
